Speakers:

Richard Jacobson, Golub Capital
Mr. Jacobson joined Golub Capital in 2014 and is a Managing Director in the Business Development group. He is responsible for managing existing and new client relationships across all investment offerings for the Firm. Prior to joining Golub Capital, Mr. Jacobson worked at Stern Capital, a private investment firm, where he led the firm’s expansion into private debt and equity transactions. Prior to this position, Mr. Jacobson served as a Managing Director and one of four partners overseeing Indosuez Capital’s Merchant Banking group, where he was a member of the Investment Committee and oversaw the group’s origination and structuring of senior loans, mezzanine debt and private equity co-investments. Prior to that, Mr. Jacobson was an Associate in the law firm of Jacobs, Persinger and Parker, where he drafted documents relating to acquisitions, joint ventures, private placements, leveraged buyouts and debt financings. Mr. Jacobson earned his BA degree cum laude in English and Sociology from Tulane University. He received an MBA from the Columbia Business School and a JD from American University’s Washington College of Law.

Beatrice Caplan, Kirkland & Ellis
Beatrice Caplan is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Practice Group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Beatrice’s practice focuses on complex gift and estate planning matters. She has extensive experience in planning with private equity and hedge fund interests, including designing transfers for unique fund structures and advising on the estate and gift tax consequences of fund restructuring transactions such as third-party stake sales and continuation vehicles. Drawing on her prior background in tax practice, she has significant experience in pre-IPO planning for founders, business succession planning, and structuring of family offices. She also has considerable experience in the international arena, both inbound and outbound planning. This has involved the modification and decanting of existing trusts in coordination with local counsels to achieve the optimum tax results in both the US and the foreign jurisdiction. Beatrice has been recognized by Lawdragon as one of its “500 Leading Global Tax Lawyers.”

Michael Davis, CAZ Investments
Michael Davis serves as Senior Vice President of Capital Formation, where he is responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment themes, monitoring existing investments, and facilitating co-investment opportunities for Ultra High Net Worth investors, Family Offices, and Registered Investment Advisors alongside CAZ employees and shareholders. He brings more than 30 years of experience across alternative asset classes, strategies, and geographies. Earlier in his career, Michael worked as an analyst, trader, and portfolio manager, including managing a $4 billion securities portfolio for an insurance company and serving as head trader for a bank’s proprietary fund, actively trading bonds, loans, credit default swaps. Since 2008, his focus has been on sourcing capital for unique and exclusive private market alternative investments. Michael earned a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Brian Kelly, Millennium Management
Brian Kelly is Global Head of Platform Distribution and is responsible for initiating and developing platform client relationships on a global basis. Prior to joining Millennium in 2010, Brian was Co-Head of National Sales for Alternative Investments at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Prior to this position, he was Co-Head of National Sales for Alternative Investments at Smith Barney and also previously served as Head of the Alternative Investment Strategies Desk at Smith Barney. He joined Salomon Smith Barney in 1998 and was instrumental in successfully raising capital for various hedge fund, private equity, real estate, managed futures and exchange fund offerings. Brian holds a BA in Business Administration from Hofstra University and is a CFA and CAIA charterholder.

Howard Sharfman is the Senior Managing Director of NFP Insurance Solutions, with over two decades of experience in the insurance industry. Recognized by Forbes as one of the top financial security professionals in the country, he leads one of the largest wealth transfer consulting firms in the U.S., focusing on multi-generational wealth, family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth clients. His ideas and concepts have been shared globally through keynote speeches, presentations, and publications. He has spoken at major industry events including the Canadian Association of Life Underwriting and the Discovery Financial Summit in Johannesburg, and has been featured on CNBC Africa. His leadership roles include Chair of the Forum 400, AALU’s Business Insurance and Estate Planning Committee, and the Finseca Foundation.
